The unique pairing of high-tech, higher education, and a high power law firm combined for a great TecNet event on February 12, 2015, in Billings, Montana. Attendance continues to grow for our quarterly events and this one was no exception with over 100 attendees.
The historic Prescott Hall on the Rocky Mountain College Campus served as a beautiful venue for our event. Professors and staff from the Computer Science Department, who co-sponsored the event, were able to connect with area businesses for expanded opportunities for their internship programs. The diversity of the company’s in attendance, from corporate IT departments, high tech businesses and start-ups, will help give their students a wide array of opportunities.
Our co-sponsors Crowley Fleck Attorneys Bob Griffin and Trent Hooper gave a brief overview of current legislation before the Montana Senate and House that may affect technology related business in Montana. Of most interest were bills relating to data breaches and “patent trolls” that are making their way through our legislature.
Several first time attendees to TecNet were happy to find a friendly environment where they were able to connect easily with others, share ideas and experiences of working in this unique and specialized profession.
We appreciated the sponsorship of Crowley Fleck Attorneys and Rocky Mountain College’s Computer Science Department and look forward to seeing everyone at our next TecNet event on Thursday, April 9, 2015. That event will be co-sponsored by High Point Networks and St John’s Lutheran Ministries, where it will be held.
